We were consulted by Lambeth Council and Morleys Brixton, on whose walls the mural has been created, to advise on how to protect James Cochran’s ‘David Bowie / Aladdin Sane’ mural in Tunstall Road, Brixton from the overzealous attention of certain fans.
The solution was to encapsulate it in framed glass to enable all the faithful fans and tourists to be able to enjoy the artwork in its refurbished splendour whilst protecting it from the graffiti which has often defaced it since its conception.
Due to the size of the artwork the screen needed to be created with structural toughened and laminated glass and the frame needed to be water resistant whilst still allowing some movement of air to help avoid condensation forming during sudden changes of temperature and humidity.
