We were contacted by the award winning Interior design company Heterarchy, following previous projects, to develop and produce an illuminated entrance screen of absolute precision and simplicity for the Honda / Mugen Engine Research and Development Centre in Milton Keynes.
As with most minimal designs it required absolute precision to reflect and compliment the work that is undertaken in their premises. To create a light feel the screen required a gentle fade from fully etched to clear whilst leaving the correct area around the motif to satisfy the design criteria. We persuaded the client to accept a subtle alteration to the usual rules governing production of their motif by allowing us to deep carve it into the screen and to produce their motif using transparent red resin backed with a reflective layer of white gold to bring it alive.
The finished result was a triumph of simplicity.
